Senior – Delaware Hayes High School, Delaware, Ohio

Singer, choreographer, dancer, violinist, teacher, volunteer – these are the performing arts activities of DCC 2007 Scholarship winner Carolyn MacNaughton.

What cinched her victory, however, is her record of “giving back to the community with something I love as much as performing”.

She has choreographed dance and coached student performers in various Dempsey Middle School musicals. Likewise for musical productions at Hayes High School. As a member of The Hayes Singers, she has performed throughout the community ay nursing homes, other service facilities and community celebrations.

Mainly, though, she is a teacher. She says: “It is through teaching and volunteering that I feel I make the most difference.”

Her $1000 Scholarship enabled Carolyn to attend a U.S. Performing Arts Camp at Oberlin College. She reported it was an amazing experience.
